Value Added Tax
The standard VAT rate is of 19 % and applies for any taxable operation, which
does not qualify for an exemption or for the VAT reduced rate.
Reduced rate
The reduced VAT rate is of 9 % and applies for the following supplies of services
and/or deliveries of goods:
- rights of admission to castles, museums, memorial houses, historical monuments,
architectural and archeological monuments, zoos, botanical gardens, fairs, exhibitions;
- delivery of books, newspapers and magazines, school manuals, with the exception
of those intended exclusively for publicity;
- deliveries of any type of prostheses and accessories, with the exception of
dental prostheses;
- deliveries of orthopedic products;
- medicines for human use and veterinarian use; and
- accommodations within the hotel sector or within similar sectors, including
the rental of land for camping purposes.
