There are huge opportunities in all Romanian property
markets – in the commercial market for example investment is being poured
into the creation of new retail developments as well as into infrastructure projects
from bridge construction to road building, there is demand for grade A office
space in Bucharest and the light industrial demand is beginning to creep up too.
In the residential market there has been a shift in emphasis from low cost, off
plan properties being bought up by speculators to the provision of attractive
new accommodation for the middle classes who are growing in affluence. Unlike
Bulgaria - which also joined the EU in January 2007 – and which has largely
been explored and in some cases exploited by investors, Romania still offers long
term appeal.
Romania has such a vast capital of stunning natural resources that it has a great
deal to offer the wider world particularly through tourism and the promotion of
the country as a beautiful second home location. Romania is romantic - synonymous
with fairytales and stories of vampires and werewolves - and in reality Romania
has the breathtaking mountains of the Carpathian range, medieval castles and villages,
an abundance of history and culture, forests where bears and wolves still roam
wild and an untouched coastline that is beginning to become popular in the summer
months with increasing numbers of visitors from western Europe.
